It’s true what they say, “You can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the girl.” Since moving to Alexandria, we’ve been saying that what Old Town really needs is a great southern restaurant, and I couldn’t have been more excited when I heard that a new place was opening on King Street called Magnolia’s. If Magnolia’s isn’t a classic southern restaurant name, I don’t know what is! In true southern girl style, a hair appointment is always a reason to go out to dinner, so that’s exactly what we did and Magnolia’s did not disappoint. Wanting to dress up a little, I selected an eyelet peplum top paired with white jeans and blush pumps for a pop of color. My latest arrival from Rocksbox contained the perfect assortment of sparkle to glam up a classic black and white ensemble. The classic color scheme allowed the jewels to take center stage, and we all know that I love a little (or lots) of sparkle. The delicate Wanderlust + Co heart ring and SLATE studs were a lovely complement to the bold necklace so that the look wasn’t over the top. I was so taken by the Perry Street Floral Crystal Necklace that I decided to purchase it. Unlike other subscription services, Rocksbox allows you to opt to purchase pieces you love instead of giving only a short window to return the things you don’t, and operates under a wear and return model. This allows you to request special occasion pieces that you may only want to wear once without feeling pressured to buy, or having to fret over precise timing since you return whenever you’re ready and the subscription is on a monthly basis, much like Netflix. You even get $10 each month in “shine spend” towards any piece you’d like to purchase, and the purchase prices are discounted from retail. Every girl knows that jewelry can truly transform an outfit, and Rocksbox allows endless options. What are you waiting for? A free month? Well, go ahead and give it a try! Getting dressed up for a night on the town is always a great way to end the week! What is more fun than getting all dolled up for some quality time with your best gal pals? When I lived in Atlanta, getting dressed way easy. A night out meant silky dresses, sky high heels, and a set of falsies to finish the look. When I moved to D.C., I quickly learned that the Atlanta night out uniform looked pretty out of place, and was less than practical without curbside valet on every corner and chilly nights stretching into June. I still haven’t added flats to my night out ensemble, but swapped out silk dresses for silk tanks, skinny jeans, and more practical heels. This breezy tank layers well under a jacket for chilly evenings, but has a twist strap detail (similar to the straps on my wedding dress) for a little extra interest when worn alone. What are your favorite looks for a night out with the gals?
Silk Tank (Banana Republic (old), similar style here) / Tweed Jacket (C. Wonder (old), similar style here and here) / White Jeans (on sale!) / Silver Pumps / Aviator Sunglasses (Kate Spade Outlet – store only) / Clutch (Elaine Turner via Bishop Boutique) / Ring and Necklace from Rocksbox (Thank you to Rocksbox for offering readers your first month free with code peoniesandproseccoxoxo!)
May the luck o’ the Irish be with you.
All jewelry from Rocksbox.
I recently took the plunge into subscription wardrobe services with Rocksbox. It’s like Netflix for jewelry where you add items to your “wish list” and marvel as designer pieces appear at your doorstep. You can wear them once and return or purchase the pieces at a discount if you fall in love with an item. My most recent box featured a beautiful green onyx ring that was perfect for St. Patty’s Day along with adorable bow earrings and a sparkly crystal necklace. I plan on pairing them with this silk chiffon blouse for a festive workday ensemble that would make any girl green with envy! It’s amazing how something as simple as a statement necklace can transform an outfit. Be one of the first 3 readers to use code kristenbff188 for a free month of Rocksbox! How are you wearing green this year?
