Village of Pinehurst

Tad and I spent last week visiting my parents in Pinehurst while Ted was out of town at a conference for work. I always enjoy going back home to North Carolina, and it was Tad’s first big trip. We mostly relaxed and stayed inside since it was cold and windy most of the week, but took advantage of a sunny day to go stroll around the village. There are always new shops and restaurants each time I go back. This time, my favorite new stop was the old post office, which has been converted into a library and coffee shop, The Roast Office. How clever! I couldn’t help but stop to try a local roast, and have my picture taken in front of their “you are brew-ti-ful” sign. Another favorite shop is The Gentleman’s Corner, which stocks Barbour, Vineyard Vines, and other Southern staple brands for men.

Avid golfer’s find no shortage of fun to be had in Pinehurst, but since I’m not too handy with a golf club, I’ve spent more time strolling the village streets than practicing my swing while in town. There are cooking classes, wine shops, boutiques, spas and more to enjoy if golf isn’t your thing. Though I stay with my parents when I visit, the Carolina Hotel would make for a lovely weekend escape, and if you’re not from the South, make sure to try some local barbecue and sweet tea while you’re in town!

Side note for new moms – our Nuna Mixx stroller handled well on the cobblestone terrain, and was light enough to lift up and down the few steps we encountered!

What’s In My Beach Bag

Kate Spade Pink Embellished Bow Bandeau from Everything But Water’s 30th anniversary collection.

Since I look more like I’ve been indulging a bit too much in ice cream and macarons verses really looking like I’m expecting, I was a bit self-conscious about baring my belly in a bikini. The eye-catching bow on this playful one piece seemed like the perfect solution to draw the eye upward and away from my midsection.

Kate Spade Grainy Vinyl Floral Tote

I snagged mine on sale at the Kate Spade outlet. There are usually outlets near the beach, and they make for a great rainy day activity.

Stella & Dot Tunic

A great cover-up for the beach or tunic top with white jeans.

Gold Mine Leave In Conditioner by Drybar

I know that some women enjoy the extra thick mane that they get during pregnancy, but since I already have plenty of hair, it’s actually been quite a challenge, especially with the summer humidity. I’ve been trying all sorts of new conditioning and anti-frizz products to try to tame my, now, straw-like strands. I like how light weight this leave-in conditioning serum is. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling weighed down like most anti-frizz serums do. Don’t be scared by the shimmery specs. I thought they might add a nice bit of shine in the sunlight, but by the time I’m done brushing and blowdrying, the sparkles are nowhere to be found.

Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home

Tory Burch “Mini Miller” Jelly Sandals

Cute and waterproof!

What’s in your beach bag this summer?

Thanks for reading!
